Hi.
I am preparing to paint my hall stairs and landing woodwork.
At the moment it is stained and varnished all in sound condition.
I was sanding it but have been told that giving it a good hard wash with sugar soap will not only clean it but provide the necessary key for the new paint.
Is this the case? so much easier and less tedious than sanding.
Cheers
