Whilst searching for information regarding bathroom fans in electrics uk it sems to me that various electricians if thats what the are, are more intent on winding each other up and butting in on the topic, would it not be possible to say what electrician is on line and post a question to them and them only thus negating the need for elongated threads when all is needed is a simple answer.

So many threads on here go to a totaly different place.
Although as it is you can get many answers/ideas for the same problem.

I think the personal service you are looking for would come at a price! ;)

Paying a price for advice from a LOCAL 'pro', is not a bad idea, ie if after the advice is still not resolved the 'pro' could offer to look at the job at a reduce rate.
I dont know how you would know a pro though, except by the high heels & short skirt... ;)

Sometimes it's the way questions are asked & responses that causes problems & this can apply to any of the specialist trade forums but you also have to be robust to those just looking for an argument; usually this is confined to the General Forum but not always. Maybe it’s also a factor of how many sparks (& others) are just bored & short of real work just now .

In answer to your question, choose the one(s) you think give good advice & you feel comfortable with & trust (if any of em  ), send them a friend request & if they agree, you can PM them to your hearts content ;)

Many thanks for the replies its just that while I was having a search for any related info I required I came across a post and by the bottom of the first page and into the next one where tying the doors on a portaloo came into the equation? its just that I thought maybe one electrician could answer each posters enquiry after all there must be enough to go around.

I'm sure that I will be happy to be on a retainer for you for a monthly fee.

I will be cheaper than Seco anyway!

The main thing to remember is that the pro's, or more knowledgeable posters on this site offer you advice for zero benefit to themselves, it is done out of the kindness of their hearts.

I guess the age old saying "you don't get something for nothing" comes into play, free advice which may go off topic is better that advice at a cost, surely?????
