Hello
im getting new windows in a single height bay window in a 1870 victorian terrace

i assume the original windows would have been timber and built with a Bressumer beam to support the brickwork above them.

thats all long gone and the existing upvc windows are held in by expanding foam and the six rows of bricks above them are held up by the windows themselves.

i plan to put new concrete lintels above the window openings. to support them i will need to add two brick columns in a narrow space (165cm w x 80 cm d)

whats the best blocks to build this with?

thanks

Bricks to match? Otherwise class B engineering bricks or 7N concrete bricks.

Not many people build new masonry piers to replace a timber window frame??
