Supporting a concealed shower mixer

Hi,

Im fitting a concealed shower in the bathroom, its going to be fitted in a stud wall, However the unit itself is fairly heavy, What do you generally use to support the thermostatic mixer??

put noggins in the stud wall and fix the mixer to them.
