Here is what I’ve found under the step between the two levels of my ground-floor flat:
There’s a lot of loose material in there. The upper floor is supported on about 50mm of concrete on top of a lot of stones with nothing holding them in. Then at the bottom there is the remains of a concrete cill. It has been bashed around a lot for pipes etc. over the years.
I have a 20kg bag of concrete and I’m considering first filling behind the bottom cill and then filling a vertical bit behind some shuttering.
The loose material is a bit damp. There is DPM under the bottom concrete slab and probably also the top one, and there was some old vertical felt DPC hiding the loose stones until I trimmed it away.
Thoughts anyone?
