I have a potterton Suprima 80 boiler feeding 10 radiators. When the central heating switches on you hear noises like a train shunting coming from the boiler then loud banging noises will follow for approx 10 mins until things start to warm up. During this period the boiler cuts out and I have to press the reset which only works after a few mins delay. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Dead pump? - undo big screw and poke screwdriver in. Water supply from the header tank OK?- run some out and check it fefills. Boiler thermostat gone dud?- set it at minimum - it should cut out before the overheat stat.
