Hello, firstly apologies if these have been answered already, I have looked but I couldn't find the answers anywhere.
We have recently moved house and decided to install a Hive "active heating with hot water" unit which has replaced my EP2002 programmer and hallway thermostat. I did have a bgmvsp-23 motorised valve fitted, which I replaced cable for cable with a Drayton MA1.
When I wanted to turn the central heating on with the old EP2002 programmer both the HW and CH selector had to move to the on position together (if that makes sense) and if I wanted the hot water on I could just set that to the on position by itself.
I have linked out the thermostat so that when I call for the central heating I am getting 240v at the 3 port valve (white cable) and the valve moves to the heating pipe. At this point the pump will start and every looks correct except for the fact that the boiler does not light.
When I call for hot water I can measure 240V on the the 3 port valve does not move and the boiler does light (which means that I am heating both hot water pipe and central heating.
The two questions I have that I hope somebody can point me in the right direction (PLEASE !)
- What am I missing in terms of moving the valve in heating position but not asking the boiler to light?
- What colour cable will move the 3 port valve to be ported to hot water pipe only?
I was convinced that there was issue with the old bgmvsp-23 motorised valve because I thought that the wiring was correct, and the valve itself looked like it had be bashed about abit so I replaced it with a Drayton MA1 which was a direct replacement. I have wired the cables like for like.
I am just at the stage where I am drawing the wiring out on paper to see if there is a mistake somewhere but because of the initial operation of the old programmer I thought I best check here first.
Thank you in advance everybody
Desperate Steve
