We all know that joe is the harbinger of doom and gloom when it comes to the demise of Western democracy and capitalism. Just browsing online and reading of Barratts shoes going boobs up, and a subsequent link of Blacks Leisure (owners of Milletts) putting themselves on the open market for sale to stave off collapse, one has to wonder which retail companies stand any chance of surviving.
Other than food stores, is there any real need for the existence of any other high street store - surely online shopping will suffice, with their large an impersonal warehouses, relatively low overheads etc. Indeed, if this is the case, then what will happen to the current temples of nothingness (as I like to refer to them) such as the Trafford Centre, Bluewater, MetroCentre etc etc etc..?
Britain is indeed a nation of shopkeepers. So if the shops go, then what is left? Over to you joe.....
