Has SWA got thinner over the last 10 years or so? I'm sure 16.0mm² SWA used to be thicker when I first started, or have I just got used to working with big SWA?

XLPE is generally thinner in diameter than pvc/pvc isn't it?

Whats the diff between normal SWA and XLPE SWA? Apart from higher current ratings. Can XLPE be used instead of SWA just for higher current capacity for size? Are diff glands etc?

You have to ensure that what you are terminating the XLPE to can withstand the higher operating temp (90c) otherwise you must use pvc/pvc ratings.
