Switch swap (plastic to steel), which one?

Hi folks,

I am currently swapping the sockets / switches in my recently refurbed kitchen for fancy stainless ones....

I currently have one of these switches:

The switch goes to a double socket behind one of the base units that my oven plugs into.

Since I can't seem to find a "like for like" 1 gang replacement, can anyone let me know if either of the below would be suitable:

Have you tried googling for a stainless steel 45A switch?

You have a 45/50 amp double pole switch there. These are available to fit a single box (like you have) or a double box.

Unfortunately some manufacturers only do the double box type in chrome or other fancy finishes.

However, since you say it controls a double socket, and ASSUMING there is not some other appliance hardwired into the wiring as well, then any of the three switches would do IN THIS CASE.

Anything else is plugged into the double socket?

As a means of double checking, what type of oven is it, and what is the power of it in kW? There may be an electrical rating plate on the edge of the oven door frame.

Oven is 230v - 3200W

Sorry, wasn't clear in original post. I'm sure I could find one the same from another supplier, but I wanted one from the Volex range (as linked to) so that all switches match.

Does the above change any advice given above?

Might be worth having a look at the electrium website at the volex range and see if they do one?

Bit surprised to see such an oven wired into a 13 amp plug. At full power it's almost 14 amp.

Who wired the oven?

The third item on your list (20 amp double pole switch, with or without neon) would be the best option.

Did the oven come with a 13 amp plug already fitted?
