Hello.

I have a flat on which is not being used during the winter.
See pic i have a hot water cylinder from Heatrae Sadia.

The hot water is off. Should I switch off the mains water and then open all taps and flush the toliet to ensure all water is empty from pipes?

Is there anything else to do?
No hose fr outside.

J

It's a pretty good idea to do just that.......especially if you expect the inside temperatures to go really low. Not as usual as a 'normal' property of course as there will be some latent heat from other flats.
Make sure your insurers know - they may require you to visit ever so often, and they may also require some residual heat to be left on.

If it's a flat with one above/one below and relatively well insulated then the risk of internal freezing is pretty low. That being said, nothing wrong with removing the risk all together. Wouldn't need to drain down I wouldn't think but yes, water off and leave taps open.

Thank you everyone. It's a bottom flat and the flat above is empty. I will definitely need to put something in place.
