Synthetic purdy for oil-baes paint? If not recommend a brush

Hi all,

Recently brought a set of purdy brushes and they have been excellent with water based stuff.

Now it's time to paint some door frames and skirting with oil based satinwood and I'm not sure if to try one of the spare synthetic purdy brushes I already have.

What do you guy's think? If not what brush do you recommend I buy for oil based stuff.

The Purdy is fine for both oil and waterbased paints.

Just make sure you clean it well after use. There's nothing worse than a good brush that's ruined after one use.

Thanks for your reply's. Been using my spare Pro-Extra Monarch over the last 2 days with dulux trade satinwood and a drop of white spirit to thin it a little and the brush has been excellent to use. Gave it a very good clean in white spirit and brush cleaner at the end of each day as I was a little worried about leaving it in cling film.

One other question, should I just now keep this brush for oil and never use it again with water based stuff?

No you can use it for either oil or water/acrylic paints.

Don't know about you lot but I can never get fresh oil paint off a brush without a gallon of turps. I prefer to leave it soaking in turps or paraffin for 24 hours - then it washes out dead easy.

I have a paint mate, I never clean out oil based brushes...

Someone on here recommended paraffin to clean brushes after using oil based paint i tried it and would not use turpentine again.
BTW are Hamilton perfection paint brushes not the choice of the pros on here for oil based paint?

The finish you get with disposable brushes is normally a poor finish.
