I have just moved into a new house that has a Worcester 18i condensing system boiler. I have only ever been used to combi boilers in the past, so the idea of heating stored water is new to me. On a typical storage tank for a 3 bed property can anyone recommend how long i should programme the hot water to be on for? At the moment I have it set for 30 min before I wake up and 60 min in the evening. I would rather get some ideas than trial and error on a daily basis. The tank appears to be insulated with a dense hard jacket.

Thanks

Don't matter how many bedrooms you've got but how much hot water your going to use.

Just wondered how quick these modern system boilers heat the water. Obviously don't want to have the programme on longer then necessary.

the cylinder will have a stat on it so it will only ever call for heat from the boiler when the cylinder isnt hot enough. Generally though a bout 30mins will heat a cylinder. It will stay hot for a long time. It is down to how much hot water you use.

Work out when the water will be used and time the boiler to fire 30mins before and to remain heating untill 30mins after use (to reheat cyl after heat loss through use)

Your boiler will heat about 6 litres per minute!

One more question - Is it more economical to set the programmer of the system boiler to heat hot water at the same time as the heating is on? Or should I set the hot water to heat up separately?

thanks
