system standby

my system goes into standby after 1 hour and most of the time it works but occasionally it shuts down,it then starts back up when i move the mouse
any ideas why this happens?
ive set it to just go into standby,hard disks and monitor are set to never

If you ONLY want to have the screen saver function then I would recommend the following configuration: (Win XP) Go to Screen Saver > Power > Power Schemes.
Normally you would select 'Home/Office Desk' as the scheme
Turn off monitor = Never (but I would set this to about 30 mins)
Turn off Hard Disk = Never
System Standby = Never
Also check the 'Power Management' options in the BIOS. These can kick in, irrespective of your Windows settings.[/u]
