I spent so long ****ing around trying to get this to work, and eventually managed it. So thought I would share…

I recently bought Tado smart trvs for all my radiators. And the internet bridge. But still had my older wireless thermostat linked to my ideal logic 30 boiler. All worked fine except the main boiler wasn’t controlled by tado.

Then decided to get the wireless extension and had a mare.

you can use opentherm. You will need to get an extra bit of wire with a black and grey length, and two small junction boxes.

on the left hand side of the boiler wire the power cable to the power supply, and leave the loop in on the thermostat bits. the black and grey cables from the new extension need to go to new junctions and your new cable. The cable then needs to link to the right hand side and to the opentherm connections.

finally unplug the wireless receiver that is built in and plug this into the opentherm plug (on the right hand side).

when you register it on your phone, don’t choose Ideal Logic, choose ‘opentherm’ with a code (can’t remember which code) and click through and it should work.

Just remember, removing certain boiler covers need to be checked by a competent person afterwards as part of 26.9 checks.

Richy, id you do this using the new wireless receiver (which doesn't include OT in the UK version) or the old extension kit? Any chance you have a photo of your setup?
Thanks!
