As funds are running low I now need to improve my bathroom rather than refurbish. Whats the chances of being able to take out a row (horizontal) of tiles off a wall so that I can replace them with something more suitable?

I was thinking of `angle grinding` near to the joint and chipping out.
I dont suppose there is a cleaner/easier method.

You may be better using a grout rake rather than an angle grinder as the blade may overcut onto other tiles unless you are very careful. I would also tape over the tiles you intend to break out so they stay together and don't shatter all over and fall into the bath etc and avoid scratching it.

Hit in the centre of the tile after you have racked the grout out.
What are the tiles on..plaster/brick will be ok.
You will probably find it easier to take 2 rows out or a square.
Trying to take 1 tile out with damaging the surround tiles aint easy ...but it can be done.

I am no pro but have had success by using a dremel with a grout bit to remove all the grout and adhesive behind the grout. Then drill a few holes through the tile and break the tile out gently. Works for me.
