Tap head removal - no screw

Morning all,

Does anyone know how to remove the head on this tap? not quite sure whether to turn the head further with a pair of grips, pull it or what. The mechanism inside moves up and down the tap head in an square passage. Any help would be welcome. I don't particularly want to get it wrong whilst there are no shops open to buy new parts if I muck it up
