The tap washers are marked 3/8 so I presumed a 3/8 re-seater would suit. I got a tool that had 3/8, 1/2 and 3/4 cutters and its the 3/4 size that fits.

Rather confusing to have both bsp and imperial on the same job.

Anyway, I used the re-seater tool yet still got a slight drip for a while even with new washers and the taps turned off firmly. Takes a while for the drip to stop.

1. BSP is a sub-set of Imperial. Same (Whitworth) thread form, but different diameters from Whitworth. Tied to the bore of once commonly used pipe sizes.
2. Basin taps are generally 1/2" BSP washers, because they used to be piped up with 1/2" internal bore pipework.
3. Bath taps are generally 3/4" BSP washers, because they used to be piped up with 3/4" internal bore pipework.
4. If the drip stops after a minute or two, it's usually the water in the spout dripping out. If it were a problem with the taps, it wouldn't stop.
