tap spraying, just hot water, not cold

We've just moved house and the kitchen tap sprays water everywhere. Only the hot water does this. The cold comes out of the outside part of what looks like an aerator, the hot from the middle. I can't get this off, and have tried cleaning it, but still the hot sprays everywhere. I'm feeling a new tap is the only solution.....any ideas gratefully received.

Have you tried cleaning the spout with a pin? It's likely to be a build up of scale in the nozzle or filter. Can you get the nozzle off to look inside?

It could also be debris inside the tap. Can you remove the whole spout by undoing the grub screw at the back of the tap - then reverse flush it using another tap or garden hose.

Don't turn the tap on with the spout removed.
