Just had new bathroom DG unit pro-installed.
Thought I'd paint the exterior wall to match...on close inspection, the top of the DG unit horizontal frame is half silicone sealant and the other half cement render. Plus the top edge is kind of loose to the touch, and if I tap the wall above going left to right its like, solid, solid, solid, HOLLOW, solid etc.
I'm reluctant to start chiseling away at the expensive DG sealed edges, but should I just slap more silicone over the loose plastic/cement/wall joint or (sigh) hammer away until I'm back to the (presumed) breezeblock underneath, then cement render then whack on exteral silicone sealant?
What d'you think for the easiest? That won't leak

A picture may help to give a better answer but if the render is cracked and blown / loose it may be better to remove.
