Tapping Fridge Freezer

My Bosch KGN36VW35G fridge freezer is 4.5 years old
Today ever so often it makes a tapping noise its quite loud it sounds like small nails being hammered and there are about 12 in total each time.
The unit overwise continues to operate normally.
Any advice please.

Fan froze up ….had same on our Samsung ….does it stop if you open the freezer door

I will try that as soon as I can and report back, I presume the fan stops running when door is opened.

Yes fan only runs when door closed.
