Hi
I have/had a driveway made of Tarmac. I have taken the top layer off and discarded it, it was approx 10mm deep. The next layer has been broken up with a kango/breaker. Some of these bits are 120mm x50mm down to 5mm.
My question is can this be used as a sub base for a patio? I am thinking that I can use some of it and just top it up with mot type1 where needed?. I know that some of e bits are too big for sub base so I am picking these bits out.
Is there a way of making the bigger bits smaller? Other than a sledge hammer?? Could I use a whacked plate/compactor to break the bigger bits, rake up and then spread as sub base?.
Any information or thoughts would be gratefully received.
Thanks rob
