Hi

Have recently had an extension, and the two sinks within it both were getting really bad tcp tastes through hot and cold. This was fed from mains through copper piping and then into flexi hoses to the taps.

The washer and dishwasher are in the run for this, but both have single check valves on.

I once tried isolating the taps at utility sink (first in flow), the washer/dishwasher (2nd in flow), turned off the mains off, drained the taps in kitchen (3rd in flow) and then switched mains back on and tried tap in kitchen again - still tasted / smelt strongly of TCP.

Interstingly, upstairs in bathroom its fine. The water is t'd off from mains to upstairs and then to extension.

In the end I've had a plumber replace the flexis in the kitchen with copper pipework to see if the rubber could be reacting... the cold is now fine, but still get a smell/taste from hot.

What could be causing this? Any ideas.

Sorry to go on, but wanted to give as much info as poss...

(Only other thing is a piece of flexi is in cold feed to boiler... but that was always there before all of this...)

All the flexis are also WRAS standard.

Please help if you can :(

It may be some installation flux inside the pipes this should go away the more you use the water
