Good evening all,

My tempreture cartridge is leaking, after pealing back the previous owners layers of sillicone i've found this. I've tried pulled with no luck. Any ideas on how to get this out? Photos show how desperately I've been trying to remove this! Cannot tell what brand it is, what tool I'd need. The only thing I can say are the horizontal slits in the metal causing round the edges could be an indicator. Thank you. (It will be getting a clean once I can turn the water back on!)

1. You need a special tool to fit over the body of the valve and engage on the two flats near the base.
2. Just be warned, some showers also have a grub screw which goes in from underneath. If yours has one you are going to have to remove bricks, or at least the brick below the valve.
3. You will need to know the distance between the two flats, and the diameter of the part without flats.
4. Given the difficulty in measuring, and then finding the right tool, then unless you know the make and model of the shower, you may find it easier to replace the whole shower valve.
5. You could try sending the second photograph to showerdoc.com, if possible with an additional photograph of the re-assembled shower valve. They may be able to identify it, and possibly the required tool.

Thanks OldBuffer, sent Showerdoc the photos. I don't mind ordering a remover tool but I'm stuck on what to order at this point!

Very close to calling out a plumber as i've been at this most of the day.
