Texecom speech and text dialler wiring to elite 24

Hi,

I hope you can help. This is probably a very basic question but need some understanding. Please tell me if I have wired correctly:

Speech dialler Elite 24 control panel
TAMP terminals Aux/Fault Connections
Trigger 1 (Fire) DigiCom Output 1
Trigger 2 (PA) Not used
Trigger 3 (Intruder) DigiCom Output 3
Trigger 4 (???) ????
0v Aux -
12v Aux +

I have used a 6 core cable so not using the Panic Alarm. 2 for tamper, 2 for power and 2 for trigger. Is this correct?

I have omitted the telephone wire connections from this post as that part is easy to understand.

My question is regarding Trigger 4. On the manual it mentions 3 trigger inputs and the next column on the table says Trigger polarity. What is this? Do I need it?

Finally, it mentions various ways of wiring the trigger inputs with diagrams of resistors etc? Can I not simply connect a wire from input 1 to digicom 1 or do I need to put a link from 0v to input1 (via a 1k resistor) for a normally closed negative? I am just trying to understand this bit. Sorry if question is long but this will help me a lot.

You can use any of the 4 triggers.

You can change the polarity of the trigger, to +ve or negative for all 4 triggers.

To make the manual clearer it really should say 1 fire, 2 PA, 3 Intruder, 4 Spare then have a polarity column.

At default the dialler comes setup with the first 3 programed with default messages, but you can do your own.

Then you need to make sure the outputs on the panel match the triggers.

In this case you don't need to worry about normally open or normally closed, its a direct trigger from an output.

Thanks SecureIam, very quick response. So just for summary:

1) I take it the 3 first three trigger inputs are pre-configured but can be changed if required
2) One wire from trigger input 1 to digicom output 1 is enough as long as digicom output 1 is configured for active on fire?

Now, I have two smoke alarms installed. One on Zone 7 and the other on Zone 9. Both of these zones would be on 24 hour Fire. So all I need to do is set digicom output 1 to be active on Fire and that should dial out when either smoke alarms are activated? I have set the smoke alarms on Auto (so that once smoke has cleared the alarm will clear - is that wise or should it be latching from your experience?)

set smokes to auto can you clarify?

with the outputs your spot on.

The units being on separate zones they trigger, the fire alarm is activated, that gets reset when you reset the alarm.

From the Exodus smoke detector manual:

The Exodus 4W Series can be configured as either auto reset or latching

depending on how the Latch Input is wired.

Latch Input:

No Connection or 0V: Auto reset (detector automatically resets after

the smoke or heat has gone).

+12V: Latching (after a detection the unit will stay in

alarm until power is removed or the Latch Input

is taken momentarily low).

IMPORTANT:

A latched detector is held in alarm state and cannot signal a new occurrence

of a fire until it has been reset. Always ensure detectors are reset following an

activation. Instruct the end user accordingly.

auto is fine, the detector resets automatically but your alarm system will be silenced when you type in the code and reset in the normal way after an alarm activation.

Picture may be poor quality but wiring is 12v(red), 0v (Black), Com (Blue) and N/C (Yellow).
I have put the blue and yellow into Zone 7. Is this correct?

For future reference, if I were to use the latch terminal. Is the manual saying to connect the Red wire to the latch terminal, i.e giving the latch terminal the 12v supply instead?

the system setup that way is normally closed.

There is no need to use the latch terminal as each device is on its own zone.
