This volcanic ash thingy which has messed up airspace. Isn't it just so amazingly lucky that we're not involved in long range bombing of other countries, which last time meant B52's being used from our shores. :idea:

Didn't think it was entirely down to it being an potential engine hazard.
 
Apparently the ash plays havoc with radar systems so you'd have a hell of a job tracking what was coming in.

did you know they actually misplaced 6 live nukes for 3 1/2 hours back in 2007 on one of those?
they're not supposed to fly them with live nukes on, the nukes are transported via secure cargo planes, but one took off for a 3 1/2 hour flight from one base to another in america and they didn't realise it was loaded with nukes.. ( supposed to be "on standby" only when loaded.. not flown anywhere unless needed. )

only has a crew of 5 flying it...!!! and it has 6 ejector seats...???
