The baseball cap

Why o why has the hat worn by players of the game of baseball become such an iconic item..it's pervasive nature, in as much as it's worn extensively in sport and general fashion is just astounding.... especially in cricket, but why is it so widely accepted?

I get annoyed when I see drivers wearing them.
You see them at traffic lights with the head tucked down on their knees to see when the lights change FFS!
And as for old fellas wearing them!!! Jeeeezus!

And as for old fellas wearing them!!! Jeeeezus!

Look sonny, I wear one, have my rear shirt tail hanging, white trainers, thermal under wear, long johns, clip-on ear ring, hearing aid, prosthetic foot inserts, etc.. So, if you see me getting out of the car look the other way in case it causes you a 'little bit' of distress. Poor chap. :)
There are many paths you can take in life but as far as ageing is concerned you either make it or you don't. So, Conny and IM lets hope you join us. :)

i've worn them for probably the last 12 years, pretty much everyday - although i sometimes look up and realise i'm the only one in sight wearing one - it's mainly for work or out shopping - keeps the sun out of my eyes and just stops me bumping my noggin quite so hard.

plus the added bonus that it keeps my pony tail out of the way.

now people that wear sunglasses all the time - don't get me started on that!!!

i wear one all day, as with stupids.

it keeps my pony tail in place, sun out of my eyes, and plaster dust, bits of ceiling etc , out of my eyes!!!

and i also drive with on me ed as well!!
yes i can see the traffic lights with it on as well!!!

its got our company name on it, so its classed as corporate wear, all the other staff are supplied with them, but if they don't want to were them thats up to them!

drivers that sit in the middle lane of the motorway doing 60MPH gets my goat, but thats a different story isn't it!!

Oasis

well i should be all right then as i spend most of my time between lane 2 and lane 3!!!

not speeding tho, honest! LOL

I find the peak gets in the way when I put my crash helmet on.
Have you tried putting it on backwards? The baseball cap not the crash helmet. Putting a crash helmet on backwards is not big, and it's not clever.

I hate them and think people look stupid wearing them....and the idiots who wear them on the side of their thick heads look pathetic

I wear a peaked sports hat when playing golf in the sun.

Very effective.

It's quite funny looking at a golf pro when he removes his hat, what with the pale forehead and all.

So, for their practical reasons and promotional reasons (sports sponsorship) i have to say they have a purpose.

However, anyone who wears them for aesthetic reasons must be completely bereft of any mirrors in their home.

A peaked cap has never and will never ever be considered a fashion item. Nor does it complement the user in any way. In fact, it only serves to detract the user from being observed.

Ugly people, criminals and those that do not wish to be recognised like peaked caps.

Any one who feels the need to wear a hat in a car is without doubt a total dickwad, why would they need one is the roof not protection enough ?.
If you see someone wearing a hat driving a car avoid them like the plauge because they will do something stupid, I sometimes follow them (at a safe distance) just out of a morbid sense of curiosity.

As for pony tails, subsistute for hat in above.

I wear one because it protects my bald head from the sun and because a Dr once told me to keep the sun off my nose, which got badly sun-damaged during a summer walking in the Alps.
