Hi all - first time posting (on any forum)
I've secured a semicircle (potentially full 13 foot circle) of some heavy, thick and very durable pine. It's from an industrial process that meant it was the base of a huge wooden tub filled with hot water. It shouldn't rot and once the strips have been laid down (tight fit, using dowels), it won't move - guessing 1/2 ton. It's a different beast entirely to your typical decking material.
It could look very good indeed - incidentally, any ideas for anti-slip? Chicken wire isn't going to cut it.
So, trying to work out if it's an all or nothing approach for the sub-frame. Either I create a basic level on the gravel driveway and anti-weed membrane and see how it goes....it's wet where I live...
...or, spend a bit of money / respect the material / allow airflow, with a low frame underneath. However, in the words of Bob Dylan, it risks balancing a mattress on bottles of wine. Hexagon of metposts (I've read they are OTT for decking, but see above) and some seriously thick wood lengths? Perhaps just several breeze blocks face down?
Not a seasoned DIYer, prefer a K.I.S.S. approach. Thanks for your time and expertise.
