hi new here hoping someone can help

my vivaro 57 plate 2.0 as started blowing white smoke this is only in the morning after its been sat over night and if I sit there just letting it tick over.
how ever if I drive it after about 5 mins or so the smoking stops. if I then pull over and let it tick over there is no smoke.
I have noticed that my temp gauge on my dash does not move at all could the 2 be linked??
I was also short on power until about 20000rpm then it would be fine.
I have replaced the glow plugs the MAF sensor and the boost solenoid an the slight power loss seems to have gone. I should point out I have also bought genuine parts not cheap ebay parts

I don't appear to be loosing any coolant or oil so im starting to think either the head is gone or its the injectors?
however the van does not tick over or run rough its seems fine apart from this white smoke any advise is very welcome

thanks in advance

The smoke could be steam, especially on a cold morning. Your temp gauge fault could be a sensor or it could be the thermostat, check that its working by feeling the radiator soon after you have started it, if it starts getting warm almost immediately the thermostat needs replacing, the radiator should stay cold until the engine comes up to working temperature then will suddenly get hot. If the thermostat is faulty that will contribute to steam from the exhaust, it will also cause rapid engine wear and poor fuel economy. Does your heater get hot?

Thanks for the reply yes the heaters are getting hot 5-10 mins after start up I will check the radiator today and see if it heats up straight away

Having to take it to a specialist my local garage said no thanks I hate these things and don't really understand them lol least he was honest

A diesel specialist is your best bet, they usually know what they are doing.

Maybe its just because the weather has suddenly become cooler, then the steam is now visible......so long as you aren't losing coolant I wouldn't worry at all.
The temperature gauge could well be another fault altogether......when the engine is clay cold, the thermostat will remain firmly shut for a while and the gauge will rest on its lower stop.
The sensors for the gauge are often ECU controlled these days unfortunately, rather than the type that was stuck in the side of the radiator.

I've had white smoke from diesels when air has been able to get into the fuel. Had it with a jetta when the tank to fuel line connector had perished and air could be sucked into fuel and with a espace when beastie had used fuel primer bulb as a tooth sharpener.

I booked in for next week to find out whats going on there is to much smoke to ignore it something is not right
