Hi

I purchased a Hyundai jigsaw a while back and ever since, it has only been able to CURVE - never do a straight cut. I examined the underside and it all seems to be even and straight - what is going on? Is there anything I can do keep the cut straight without it constantly curving? Needless to say it's making working impossible.

Thanks for any advice.

i suspect its crabbing!!!

quite a common problem even with good quality machines

basicly the blade isnt parralel to the base plate of the machine
this stops you using a parralel edge or the pointer [if one is provided]

the solution is to find the natural path of the blade and use that
this may place the rear of the jigsaw several mm to one side

i am of course assuming you are using a sharp blade not pushing too fast and with pendulum on as appropriate

I can't see how the jigsaw can cut the curve unless its fully automatic and on wheels ;)

Doesn't your hand play a small part in guiding it?

I agree though, some models are easier to keep straight than others

A jigsaw wouldn’t be a lot of use if it cut straight. When using it just look at the blade and follow the line.
