These are local council elections though. I know the media always say these are a reflection on whoever is in national government, but really these should be voted for on local issues only.
Round our way, it seems that it's the hokey cokey. In out, in ,out. No one party ever seems to get an overall majority, and the political infighting and bickering is unbelievable.
Our local council have recently voted to carry out a £40 million+, revamp/modernisation of the council house. The vote by the full council was almost unanimous. Now the Labour group, are saying it should be called off, but will now wait until after the May elections to tell us whether they will call it off. The excuses are already in place though (paperwork has already been signed , contracts awarded etc), for why , if elected as a majority, Labour will claim it should then go ahead.
Council meetings seem to be like playground scraps, full of name calling, accusations, counter accusations. Honestly, after the last full council meeting, they had to call in the streetcare team to collect the dummies thrown out of Councillors prams.
