I thought the film Tomorrow Never Dies a bit far fetched at first, but when it happens in real life you see how much power the Maxwells and Murdocks have.
Even some pillok dj like Steve Wright, a few months ago he made a throw away remark saying there was a 30,000 hgv driver shortage in the UK,

where Steve?

when i have no building work in the pipeline i do some agency work driving, trouble is, there is not much out there unless you are prepared to go into work with about two hours notice, that is when you've been up since the crack of dawn then as the sun is going down they phone up and ask if you're ok to start at 9pm.

However i diverse, Steve pillok Wright do a bit of research next time before you open your gob on national radio, as an afterthought, i wonder if anyone on hearing this dashed out to take their hgv test which cost a couple of grand now-a-days.

Poor old Steve. He plays all my favourite records bless 'im.

Anyone who spends a couple of grand they can't afford based on what a radio presenter says is a pillok themselves anyway.

Pred. You could always re-train to become a plumber. There's a national shortage you know.

Im back on the lorries - far better money. Got the class 1 years ago after I was a trained gas bod. No stress now. You cant beat the 'love boat' from Holland to Hull. ;)

Are you serious that there's more money driving than gas fitting?

Yes Joe, unless your a rip off merchant or specialise in a certain field. You seem to think gas bods earn a small fortune. You are very wrong. No stress in being a steering wheel attendant.

I thought they were all on fifty plus quid an hour.

I guess some are. Perhaps you should visit the web sites of some that will offer a CP12 for a tenner? With business costs, thats £3.70 for an hours work (at most). Who wants to compete with that? Not me. I could flip burgers for more, or be a steering wheel attendant for much more. I get to see less of the wife too, but will miss the kids. I should add, I got class 1 before the gas - not after. Ive done it before, and will come back to gas in a year or 2.

You'll need to get up in some lofts after a while, to burn off all those excess pounds from eating Yorkies all day.

If the wagons pay more then why return to gas ? Im gas safe amd my wage is s4ite in comparison!!!!

Average day rate round here £10ph agency work, i was getting double that 7yrs ago before we got inundated with cheap labour from the east, so now i earn less, pay a lot less tax, which has the knock on effect for those sat at home all day on the dole getting less money, lifes a bitch.

And the migrants send their wages out of the country and pay hardly any tax - so we borrow 9 billion quid per month to make up the shortfall. That's the equivalent cost of the Olympics month after month after month...
