how the hell does a jockey only a niche group of people will have heard of constitute sport's biggest celebrity this year?

After all, he's a little guy who sits atop a fantastically trained beast..... surely another bloke his size that could ride averagely would beat McCoy every time everytime they raced if McCoy was on a bad horse?

worthy winner i think, lot more to it than just sitting on a horse :LOL:

hes considered the best jump jockey ever with over 3000 wins....and I hate horse riding!

yeah but, had you have put Berty Malone (made up of course) on all those very same horses, would he have not won exactly the same races?
 
Hes been the champion Jockey for last 15 years, hes also won races on average horses against average riders on better horses.....like I said i'm not a racing fan, but you cant take away from him what hes achieved.

For the record I wanted the Power Taylor to win :cry:

so his whip must hurt the horse more.... or he can think himself lighter?
Horse racing is fixed anyway... they add weight to the horses they want to lose don't they? and dope them? allegedly !!

IMO he's the worst winner of that average show in my lifetime !!
 
AP is one of the greatest jockeys that there has ever been.
Berty Malone would only have won the same amount of races given the same rides, if he had ambition, drive, commitment, willpower, balance, nerve, good diet, fitness and a lot of talent. To name a few things!
AP's a true champion and the award is long overdue.

but Berty M had all those things...but never got the management deal.... a jockey will never have the same tallent that Jessica Ennis has in her little toe !!!!

I think you would find a horse would not be interested in jumpimg the fences, sure they would chase after the other horses like sheep, but would soon lose interest, without someone pushing them along.
Besides a horse can't win a race without a jockey on board, scarecrows don't count under jockeys rules.

i've seen horses jump fences without riders !!! :eek: and you prove the point yourself....."Besides a horse can't win a race without a jockey on board, scarecrows don't count under jockeys rules"

The point is... the horses are known to be good? and the person riding them, likely to win? QED!!
