I ordered a load of computer parts recently. Amongst the items was a 90cm IDE lead (I have a biiiiig computer), which didn't arrive. So I e-mailed them yesterday and this is the response...

Sorry any inconvenience caused. We do not sell this item anymore, so our engineers will send 2 cables of the same product but only 45cm cables - that is why we included 2. This will be sent free of charge.

I had to giggle! I don't have the heart to respond and say "Actually, two 45cm cables aren't a lot of use to me when I need a 90cm one"... bless 'em

Right, a trip to Maplin tomorrow lunchtime!

90 cm IDE lead!!!!!!!!

Did you buy that sideboard from secure spark to convert into a computer ????

Is that what it's for?

Well, if the PC cabinet is costing 10K, no wonder he needs a 90cm lead!!

Would certainly make maintenance easier!

Was wondering if anyone else had similar DIY odd substitutions in the past... perhaps "we didn't have 100 breeze blocks so have 400 bricks instead", or "Sorry, out of 10mm but here are two lengths of 6mm."

Well he is quite tall ... so taking computer for a walk needs a longer lead !! ;)

can't see the problem? just superglue them together snip off any pins that don't fit, Voila! :)

Don't be ridiculous, superglue my ars (errr.. no that's not a request BTW)

Just knot them together, it'll work fine.

Presumably I could use an 80-terminal chock-block, provided I leave it accessible. ;)

I've heard knotting slows up the data :)
