hi everyone.
just wondering if anyone has used thermal primer used with underfloor heating, without actualy applying underfloor heating. i have a concrete floor thats in good condition but has no insulation underneath. the floor will be tiled over soon. will i get any advantage from priming the floor first with this sort of thermal or insulating paint.
any thoughts on this?

None whatsoever. It's for making it easier to tape down the electric mat to the insulation boards. In you're case, think about fitting at least 6mm XPS insulation boards (check on eBay) before you tile.

ok thanks.
this is the stuff i read about.

"FastHeat is an Acrylic Primer which is made up of a unique insulating composition containing NanoCNB structures. Our formulation utilises unique energy-saving technology originally developed to combat the high temperatures in space, together with the latest insulating technology.

When floors are coated with FastHeat, the surfaces lose the ability to absorb heat from the room. So the heat is reflected BACK up into your room as a result of the thermal barrier that has been formed.

Once FastHeat is applied to the floor and is dry, the thermally efficient barrier is automatically created.

Upgrade to a high tech floor primer for increased efficiency.

FastHeat has been designed to be used in conjunction with Underfloor Heating - Reduce heat loss by 20%!

It is the only advanced Underfloor Heating Thermal Coating Primer on the market today. Designed to increase efficiency of underfloor heating."

so after reading that i was under the impression that it reduced heat loss and might help.

Interesting stuff, haven't come across that before, but it's only reducing the heat loss by 20%, and that's not very much. My instinct says that it's too good to be true, especially at that price. How big is your room.
