I've always wondered why the thermocouple on my last boiler used to need replacing every 6-9 months.
The boiler make was a BKL and used to eat them on a regular basis.
I replaced it with a Valiant last year.
Was the boiler a poor model or was it something else? :)

Could be that the thermocuples fitted were a bit cheap and cheerful or that the pilot light was too big but 6-9 months is a bit frequent to say the least

I used to use the universal ones from Plumb Centre at £3.50 each if that helps .

Universals are the worst. Mfrs originals last much longer. Vokera ones never need replacing, we're told. You can try nickel plated ones intended for LPG.

worn pilot burners or injectors will also cause premature failure of thermocouples i believe
