Thermostat Confusion

We have 3 thermostats apparently operating at the same time when our water and CH are up and running.
The first is on our almost 2 years old boiler. The second is in the airing cupboard near the tank and has a cable from the unit to the tank. The third is in the hall.
Now I know what the one in the hall does. Normally set at 21, all of the central heating heating cuts off when it reaches that point. What I don't understand is the connection between the boiler thermostat and the thermostat next to the tank. Could someone explain please?

The one next to the tank is a cylinder thermostat and measures the temp of the hot water within the cylinder and tells the corrosponding motorised valve when to open and close , please note though that your boiler set temperature must always be higher than the set temperature on the Cyl thermostat or it will never close and will constantly run

Thanks for the rapid reply. I see that the thermostat near the boiler is set at 60. Is that an ok temp or should it be higher or lower? Using the shower, the water is perfect with the dial setting ialways at 8 as shown below and we always use the shower rather than the bath.

Not sure what thermostat you are talking about, I am talking about the thermostat control on the boiler facia, it controls the temp of the water leaving the boiler

Should have read: "I see that the thermostat near the cylinder is set at 60. Is that an ok temp or should it be higher or lower? Using the shower, the water is perfect with the dial setting ialways at 8 as shown below and we always use the shower rather than the bath.
Sorry about that!

Photo1 is the boiler thermostat, this is indicating the temperature of the water feeding the radiators and the coil in the hot water cylinder. Hopefully its not set to 40c, when the boiler is up to temperature this should read at least 5c higher than your cylinder thermostat.

Photo2 is the hot water cylinder thermostat, this sets the maximum temperature of the hot water supply to your hot water taps. Should be set somewhere between 50-60c.
