As the title suggests, this units' fridge section just doesn't seem to get cold enough. Even on maximum cooling it's 8.5 C. It's only a couple of years old and the freezers is cooling to the correct temperature, so I assume it must simply be the thermostat has lost some of its' gas?

Am I correct to assume that, if I short the thermostat the unit will just be constantly on max cooling? I'm not suggesting this as a fix, I see the issue ahead, but it would confirm the thermostat is at fault with resorting to checking continuity at temperature; as far as I can see?

Many thanks for reading, Roger

It could be the air cooling duct which has failed, I believe this is separate from the thermostat, and if blocked the temperature will rise.

I don't think there is one! Despite being relatively new, it's very basic, no frost free. No fan/s I can see or hear, no ducts or even drain holes I can see in the fridge compartment (I've removed the salad doobrie to double check)

Actually I can see what's cooling the fridge! The freezer, below, is full of elements.

Everything point to thermostat, I'm just surprised it's semi-working. Generally you'd expect a thermostat to either work or go open circuit switching off cooling entirely. Guess locating my multi-meter is the answer. Less typing, more doing, perhaps ;)

Probably worth mentioning that the pipes etc at the back are pretty clean, and the freezer is at -21°C, so the thing is basically working

Many thanks everyone that's tried to help.

It seems the unit has decided to fix itself! Well, at absolute maximum cooling (& it's fairly full), I'm getting 4°C, so I'm leaving well alone for now, whilst keeping an eye on temp's.

Regards, Rog'
