Thermostatic Shower

I have fitted a new Mira Thermostatic Atom shower (large fixed head with diverter). The temperature is just warm, not HOT. I have adjusted the temperature to max behind the temperature handle as the instructions.

Every other Hot outlet in the house gets very Hot. The pressure everywhere including the shower is good.

I have read a reason could be that the boiler just can't heat the amount of water the shower needs quick enough. Would reducing the flow and/or pressure on the Cold feed make the shower hotter? Would I use a Gate Valve? But I saw these should be used fully open or fully closed.

1. Your boiler is designed to raise the incoming water temperature by 40 degrees at a maximum flow rate of around 10 litres / minute (when new).
2. You could uses a 10 litre bucket to measure the flow rate of the shower. If it takes less than a minute to fill it, then the flow rate is greater than the rate at which your boiler can heat water by 40 degrees.
3. Slowing the flow rate will increase the temperature, but of course will lower the flow. Not necessarily something you want from a drench head.

Much appreciated, I will measure the rate tomorrow. How would I go about lowering the flow? Gate valve? PRV? I could fit something to test as easy access to the pipe work as it's a Bungalow and pipework in loft and access panel behind shower

Fit a flow regulating valve, such as BES 17527, but note you will need the flow control insert as well as the valve. Perhaps BES 17532 to limit to 10 lpm.

How would I go about lowering the flow?

Just don't turn the handle to fully on. Turn it on less to slow the flow and see what happens.

Your boiler really shouldn't have an issue feeding that shower with what it needs as long as the supplies are balanced and especially if the other hot taps are ok. Are the supplies on the correct sides? Hot is fed into the left inlet as you look at the shower, right inlet if you're looking from behind.

I'd take the supply of the back of the shower and run it into a bucket and see how hot it gets.

Just checked, Yes definitely fed correctly.
How would I tell if the supplies are balanced?

I will fit one of the flow valves mentioned earlier. Hopefully that will work. Unless there is something I can do regarding the balancing?
