They Shoot Horses, don't they?

The health secretary has ordered a review into the costs of implementing assisted dying whist the junior minister for palliative care has concluded - without any real evidence - that end of life care will improve as a result of the new law.

I agree with all that, apart from the 1st sentence.

How many (few) have made their feelings known to their MP ?

This is the very reason we vote for MPs. To consider and make the tough decisions needed for the country
You say 'apart from the 1st sentence'...

So you agree that the Swiss do it pretty well...

They have elected representatives too...

So do you consider the Swiss public more intelligent and more able to make choices when fully informed than the UK public?

Or do you think that the UK public is in general kept less well informed about issues that effect us all?

1st 2 sentences then.

And yes as a nation we are poorly informed, and poor at critical thinking

Me neither, if they are anything like those courts that decide on taking children from parents.
yes - the family court deals with custody, child protection, divorce. The judges are extremely busy. 6 months is nowhere near enough time. I'm sure applications would get more priority than divorce, but the family courts priority is child protection, it's why many divorcing couples opt for arbitration or private FDR (private "judge").

I think you're wrong on both of those...

But you are right that poor information can lead to poor thinking...

However unlike the Swiss, the UK public is kept far more poorly informed/deliberately kept uninformed/lied to on a regular basis...

By the very people you believe should be the ones to decide on everyone's right to choose how they end their life - MP's...

Hence why I said people should be given clear information in order to make a rational decision...

Your argument doesn't quite add up.

Why do we have MP's ?

What do you think about the information and result of the last referendum ?

MPs are paid to make these tough decisions

Now you are avoiding the argument...

We have MP's because that is the electoral system in the UK - it's as simple as that!

They are supposed to be our representatives, but can you honestly say they always vote with the people's best interests in heart on any issue let alone important ones?

What about the illegal wars they got us involved in that cost 100's of thousands of lives and invited terrorism to our shores?

Who paid with their lives for those 'tough decisions'?

And of course when in government it gets worse...

One minute a cabinet member can be an education minister, and the next minute the foreign secretary...

So how clued up do you thing those 'making tough decisions' actually are?

More clued up than the electorate.
PMSL...

They simply do what their party bosses say they should do (ever heard of party whips?), or do whatever is in their own best interests...

Thus they are merely puppets, and the job of those actually running the country is to treat the general population as mushrooms...

The majority of MP's included!

Assisted dying will become a tick box gor busy doctors, like DNRs are reportedly becoming, a brief conversation just to confirm the patient is happy and goodbye

They hope to vote at 2.30pm. If passed it sounds like repeated readings and changes where those that voted for it now can change their mind if their concerns aren't met.
