I have 2 red cables, one yellow and an Earth. It worked in this old switch wiring, but when I copied it verbatim to a new switch, it doesnt. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance

Live in live out. All live wires.
Red sleeve on the yellow to show its live.. That's the thing with lightning. Blue wires or yellow wires can be switch wires that are used to carry live current to lights or other switches so they have a red sleeve over.

Should work. When on all the wires connect. When off there is a break.

Check the cables as may have broken off or bust inside.

Probably need to test it which is easy enough to see if you have power. Also test new switch is working ok.

Any problems get local electrian. Won't cost much. Be careful though.

Be sure the green and yellow earth wire is put in the designated earth terminal only

As I said in my initial post, I put the two red cables into the COM and the Yellow(red sleeve) into the L1 - exactly how it is shown here. I have also connected the Earth to the one earth connection in the box. Ive tried to see if a Spur, perhaps, is switched off but to no avail, yet
