Can this be done? I have an existing ceiling rose but need more lights in the room; can I simply extend off the rose using e.g. junction boxes. I don't want to hack walls about for extra switches.
I can't find any similar posts anywhere else on diynot...
Your help greatly appreciated.

do you mean have one wall switch to control 2 (or more) lights at the same time? if yes, then you can. just take a feed to the next light from the neutral and the switch live in the light

Yes this can be added to, but you need to be aware of both overloading the circuit and switch.
switches rated 5-10 amp
Circiut should not have more than 1000w on total circuit.

most domestic switches are 5A, and it will probably be a 5 a fuse or 6a mcb

why not just change the fitting?

what ever you do, note my signature
