Evening all
About 8 months ago I posted that I was having issues with a euro cylinder with thumb turn in some bifold doors. Long story short but a locksmith had to replace the cylinder as the turn key refused to turn and then the key got stuck!
Fast forward to now and all of a sudden the cylinder has started catching/sticking. I removed the screw so I could pop the cylinder out and take a looknbut after that I couldn’t turn the thumb turn at all.
Not wanting to make the same mistake I called the locksmith again (covered on my insurance thankfully) and funnily enough the same locksmith came back. He decided to try the key which promptly jammed and he had to replace the lock again!
New lock in and nice and smooth for 5 minutes but i can feel it catching again. Unless I turn the thumb turn really fast the deadbolt sticks out a couple of mm. I think the moment I try to use the key or remove the retaining screw it will jam up.
I called back the locksmith who said that their job was just to secure the door but suggested I replace the sashcase (if that’s the right word for it).
That appears to be the only logical explanation- that something internal is causing the issue. It’s highly unlikely that 3 cylinders were faulty!?
Can anyone think of why the deadbolt is not fully retracting unless quickly turned?
