I came across this great video about ticking sticks, i had never heard of them, it looks a pretty good "old Time" invention, anyone heard of them or used them before?

Never heard of them or seen them used. But I have seen these:

Similar or same as a boat builders splines? Used to "calculate" complex surfaces, which until the advent of CAD would have been beyond the average persons ability (and too slow for those with the ability) to calculate.
