Hello everyone my 1st post here and am hoping for some advise.

My kitchen walls are fully covered by 150 x 150mm tiles and I finally decided to get the old hammer and chisel as i want to have new tiles fitted on half wall and paint the rest.

My problem is I have noticed whilst chipping away that the tiles are over another similar sized tiles so just wondering how to tackle this. should I remove the other tiles as well until I see the grey brick. What would I need to do in order to have smooth surface so I can re-tile my new ones and paint the rest.

Sorry If I haven't explained well as my English is not too good I am hoping someone here with knowledge will be able to give me useful advise.

Your english and explanation are understandable.
I would remove both layers of tiles, then make good the wall, before fixing new tiles.
To tile over existing tiles is not a good thing to do.

Thank you Wotan for your quick response I will do it now wasn't sure at first ...Wow this site is Brill

I am ging to get a tiler in to install new tiles but to save a bit of money I thought I could just do the removing bit myself .

My Klitchen is only 10 ft x 6 ft with two small windows on two walls and wall to wall units on the 10ft wall and also base units so not much tiling on this wall apart from the splash back any idea how much I should be paying to have it tiled half way . I am asking as I don't want to be over charged.

Sorry for my 2nd question

Classic 123, welcome to the forum and your english is much better than a lot of posters on here. Easily understood and straight to the point. Well done.
When removing any tiles you will always damage the the unerlying base that they are fixed to so the best method is to remove everything back to the bare brickwork. You can then either have it replastered or dry line it with plasterboard to give you a flat surface to lay your new tiles on.
As for cost I have no idea but type of tile/patterned or plain area to be covered will all have to be taken into consideration by your tiler. Also where you live in the country can have a bearing on cost. Get at least 3 estimates and preferably try for recommendations and have a look at some of their previous work in real life rather than photographs if possible. A good tiler will have no objections to this.
