OK
I have decided to tile the floor in my kitchen (its empty awaiting a new kitchen fit).
Have not chosen the tiles yet but the floor is cement and at some time has been covered in what looks like black bitumen but only in the centre where the cupboards were not?? I will be scraping this off with a wall paper scraper.
Before I lay the tiles how should I prep the floor, if its level do i still need a base layer? I have read somewhere that recommended a liquid crack isolation membrane - what the heck is this stuff and where do i get it - do I need it?
My wife is not too keen on tiles saying that they are cold and wants lino - I say were slippers!!!
I thought about electric radiant heat mats but my father in law (electrician) thought they were an expensive luxury that are not cheap to run.
Any advice would be great
