hi

its the first time that i am tiling a bathroom by myself , i would like to tile the sides of my bath and i wanted to know what is the best solution.

do i tile straight onto an acrylic panel or do i have a panel made specifically suitable for tiling onto?

im not sure howto go about it... is there any specific material other than the usual tiling equipment i purchase to carry out this task?

also what do i do about access.

come on guys!!

when you say acrylic panel...?? what are you on/talking about?

you want to use a solid timber background ideally plyboard if you want to tile onto it but its always a good idea to be able to get access under the bath so fix the board in a way you could gain access if needed use flexible tile adhesive and put flexi additive in the grout to make sure you prime the plyboard first with a good sealer/primer

We’ve been here several times before; using ply or any timber as a base for a tiled bath panel is not a good idea. If/when moisture gets into the back of the board it will warp & the tiles will fall off; use tile backer board.
