Hi all,

I am refitting the bathroom at the moment. I was pondering the pros and cons of tiling behind the radiator. It wouldn't be a problem to do so because the room is currently a blank canvas, I was actually wondering if tiling behind a heat source like a radiator could lead to problems at some point in the future.

Could the heat affect the tiles or the grout, possibly cracking them?

Has anyone else experienced any issues when hanging a radiator on a tiled wall?

Thanks in advance for all help and advice.

Tony.

It wont be problem ,why dont you put nice new towel rad in instead of normal rad ,will score loads of brownie points with the missus

Tiling behind a rad is not a problem for any decent trade adhesive/grout products but let them dry & set before turning the heat on.

Thanks for all your advice. Now I know that it shouldn't be a problem, as long as I let the adhesive and grout dry thoroughly before turning on the heat. Shouldn't be a problem, after all Summer is nearly here! :D

I was going to do this for that very reason but read that they are not particularly efficient at heating a room so am going off the idea (I would need a fairly large towel rad to get the same heat out of small normal rad). They do look better though but warmth over aesthetics for me especially if we have any more winters like the last.....
