Tiling - border height? Splashback?

I'm about to start my first tiling project (arrgh!), and am currently going through trying to work out which tiles are going to go where, and where my lines need to be to get the tiles finishing whole in the right places, etc.

Have managed to work out most of it, but was wondering if there's a 'standard' height for borders in bathrooms? If it helps, the tiles are 25x20cm with the border tiles 5cm high. Was thinking of probably two rows of tiles before the border....

Also is there a general size people use for splashbacks behind sinks? The sink's just under 60cm wide, so I was going to do 60cm wide, but wasn't sure on height - plan is to have a mirror above the splashback.

there is no standard as to where a border should go. The only thing you need to is make sure that you have a full tile above and below the border tile and your cuts at the floor and ceiling.As for splash backs its a personal preference you can have as many or few tiles as you wish. Good luck because incorporating two borders in your tiling is not easy. I assume you are doing your bathroom, reason being have you got a shower, if so look at the topic on waterproofing or tanking within this forum.

Just had a vision of me putting it where I think it should go, then everyone that visits saying "oh no, didn't anyone tell you the border should be at such and such a height".

And there will indeed be a shower, thanks for the pointer to the topics.
