Tiling fire surround

hi,
i have a gas fire which has tile surround,
the tiles have broken, how should i replace them, i want to replace all, should i just remove all including heat resistant cement. or chislel the tiles off and just replace with adhesive.

what is the best solution,

Hi,
If the fireplace is in situ then it will be extremely hard to replace the tiles as they have to be fitted before it goes in.
